IMMATURE ZONE-TAILED HAWK (BUTEO ALBONOTATUS), JUAN HOMBRON RD AREA,EL CHIRU,COCLE PROVINCE,PANAMA, 5/24/2019

      We can ID this hawk as an immature Zone-tailed Hawk as follows:
  • Plumage is mostly blackish, with small white spots on the breast
  • Tail is long for a hawk and has gray and black bands, with a black tip
  • Cere and legs are yellow
  • The lores are gray and there is some white on the face

      The Zone-tailed Hawk is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 876.
