NONBREEDING MALE CIRL BUNTING, MOUNT PARNITHA FOOTHILLS,AVLONA,ATTICA,ITALY, 10/10/2019

   We can ID this bird as a nonbreeding  male Cirl Bunting as follows:
  • Yellow head with a dark crown and black eyestripe
  • Mottled back bib on throat with a yellow band beneath it
  • Broad, streaked greenish breast band across its otherwise yellow underparts
  • Upper mandible of bill is dark and lower mandible is pale
  • Blackish tail with whitish outer feathers
   The Cirl Bunting is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 963.
