      We can ID this Potoo  as a Great Potoo as follows:
  • Large size.  This is the largest species of Potoo.
  • Overall light gray/white body with brownish barring. This is the palest species of Potoo.

      The Great Potoo is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 885.





MALE AMERICAN PYGMY KINGFISHER (CHLOROCERYLE AENEA), PIPELINE ROAD, GAMBOA,PANAMA, 5/25/2019

      We can ID this kingfisher as a  male American Pygmy Kingfisher as follows:
  • Very small size.  This is the smallest kingfisher.
  • Oily green upperparts with white spots
  • Yellow-orange collar

      The American Pygmy Kingfisher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 884.

      We can ID this Tyrant Flycatcher as a Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet as follows:
  • Yellow belly and grayish yellow chest
  • Gray face
  • Stubby bill
  • We can see one of its two yellowish wingbars in both photos
