MANKY MALLARD: HYBRID OF A WILD MALLARD & A DOMESTIC DUCK, SERENA GUNDY PARK, TORONTO, ONTARIO, 3/7/2026

Manky Mallard is a slang term for a hybrid of a wild Mallard and a domestic duck. Most domesticated ducks are actually descended from the Mallard, which was domesticated in China around 2000 BC. There are also domesticated ducks descended from Muscovy Ducks.
Many Manky Mallards have white patches.  This female Manky Mallard has a white chest, which is a fairly common variety of this hybrid.  This Manky Mallard was mixed in with a large group of wild Mallards.
