TODAYS BIRD PHOTOS: CRESTED MALLARD, LONG ISLAND DUCK, IMMATURE CANADA GOOSE & HOUSE FINCH

This afternoon while Sharon was in painting class I drove to Mill Pond Park in Richmond Hill, ON.  I photographed some interesting birds: Crested Mallard,  immature Canada Goose and a Long Island Duck or Pekin Duck.  After picking up Sharon from class we went home and sighted a House Finch.
The Crested Mallard is a peculiar looking Mallard: it has a puffy crest on back of its head and a curled tail.  It is probably an escaped or let loose domestic Crested Mallard.  These Mallards have been breed to have these features.
The Long Island Duck or Pekin Duck was also breed from the Mallard.  It was breed in China ans is primarily used for egg and meat production.  The duck in the pond was probably a pet that escaped or was let loose.
The immatue Canada Goose has a mostly white neck with a fair amount of black, rather than the all black neck (with awhiete chin) of the adult.  In the background of the first Canada Goose photo are two adult geese for comparison.
The last set of photos are of a House Finch on a tree outsie of Sharon's house.
