BROWN TREMBLER, CASCADE AUX ECREVISSES, PETIT-BOURG, GUADALOUPE, OVERSEAS DEPARTMENT OF FRANCE, 3/13/2024

   We can ID this bird as a Brown Trembler as follows:
  • Overall brown with a gray-tinged head and gray shading on breast and wings
  • Yellow-orange eye
  • Long, black and slightly down curved bill
  • Tail is cocked, which it often is
   A Lesser Antillean endemic found on St Vincent, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Montserrat, Barbuda, St Kitts & Nevis and Martinique.

   The Brown Trembler is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.  Our ebird Life List now stands at 1,121.



 

SCALY-BREASTED THRASHER, CASCADE AUX ECREVISSES, PETIT-BOURG, GUADALOUPE, OVERSEAS DEPARTMENT OF FRANCE, 3/13/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO EBIRD LIFE LIST

   Even though we did not get a good photo of this bird, between the two photos we did get, we can ID this bird as a Scaly-breasted Thrasher as follows:
  • Brown upperparts
  • Flanks are pale cream dappled with brown
  • Pale eye (see second photo)
  • Black bill (see first photo)
   The Scaly-breasted Thrasher is endemic to the Lesser Antilles.

   The Scaly-breasted Thrasher is a new species to our eBird Photographic Life List.  Our eBird Life List now stands at 1,120.



 

GUADALOUPE WOODPECKER, CASCADE AUX ECREVISSES, PETIT-BOURG, GUADALOUPE, OVERSEAS DEPARTMENT OF FRANCE, 3/13/2024 - NEW SPECIES TO EBIRD LIFE LIST

   We can ID this woodpecker as a Guadaloupe Woodpecker as follows:
  • Bluish sheen with the head and neck darker (bluish black) than the rest of the body.
  • Long, dark bill
   The Guadaloupe Woodpecker is endemic to the Guadaloupe archipelago in the Lesser Antilles.

   The Guadaloupe Woodpecker is a new species to our eBird Photographic Life List.  Our eBird Life List now stands at 1,119.
