BICOLORED ANTBIRD (GYMNOPHITHYS BICOLOR), PIPELINE ROAD,GAMBOA,PANAMA, 5/25/2019

      Even though we can't see the front of this bird, we can still ID it as a Bicolored Antbird as follows:
  • Pale blue eyering
  • Rufous upperparts
  • White throat.  In the first and last photos we can just make out a small bit of the throat.
  • Dark mask
  • Short tail
      The Bicolored Antbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 903.  





RUDDY-TAILED FLYCATCHER (TERENOTRICCUS ERYTHRURUS), PIPELINE ROAD,GAMBOA,PANAMA, 5/25/2019

      We can ID this Tyrant Flycatcher as a Ruddy-tailed Flycatcher as follows:
  • Gray head with unusually large black eyes
  • Rufous underparts and tail
  • Facial bristles
  • Short bill
      The Ruddy -tailed Flycatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 902.

MALE SPOTTED ANTBIRD (HYLOPHYLAX NAEVIOIDES), PIPELINE ROAD,GAMBOA,PANAMA, 5/25/20190

      We can ID this bird as a male Spotted Antbird as follows:
  • Bold necklace of large black spots on white chest
  • Black throat
  • Rufous back
  • Rufous and black barred wings
  • Dark gray head

      The Spotted Antbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 901.
