CRIMSON-BACKED TANAGER (RAMPHOCELUS DIMIDIATUS), PIPELINE ROAD,GAMBOA,PANAMA, 5/25/2019
- Bright crimson lower rump and underparts
- Duller red head, upper back as much as see can see) and upper breast
- Wings and tail are dark
- Stout bill with lower mandible enlarged at base (you can see this in second photo)

We can ID this bird as a Southern Bentbill as follows:
- Small size - about 4"
- Distinctive thick, downward-curving bill, bent like a broken nose
- Yellowish irises and whitish lores
- Yellowish underparts, including throat

We can ID this bird as a female Black-crowned Antshrike (also called Western Slaty-Antshrike) as follows:
- Drab brownish overall, with paler underparts
- Whitish edgings to wings and two whitish wingbars
- Chestnut crown
- Hooked bill
