GRAY CATBIRD WITH FLUFFED UP FEATHERS AS PART OF MATING RITUAL, TORONTO BOTANICAL GARDENS,TORONTO,ON, 5/10/2019
This male Gray Catbird has fluffed up it feathers trying to attract a female catbird. At the same time it was singing a beautiful mating song. If the mating song attracts a female to come nearby, the larger the male appears, the more it attracts the female. This is because the larger the male, the more likely the offspring will be big and strong.
