ROCK DOVE, KAWAIKUI BEACH PARK, HONOLULU, HAWAII
This particular Rock Dove has plumage which is very close to wild Rock Doves, rather than the varied plumage of Feral Pigeons.
RED-CRESTED CARDINALS,, KAPIOLANI PARK, HONOLULU, HAWAII, 11/12/2017
We can ID the bird in the first photo as an adult Red-crested Cardinal by its red head, crest, face, chin and upper breast; grey upperparts and white underparts. The bird in the last two photos is a juvenile Red-crested Cardinal that is starting to molt into an adult.
In spite of it name the Red-crested Cardinal is not closely related to Cardinals, it is actually in the tanager family.
The Red-crested Cardinal is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 766.
