WHITE-BACKED MOUSEBIRD, BLAAUWBERG NATURE RESERVE, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

    We can ID this bird as a White-backed Mousebird by its grey plumage (including crest), blueish bill with black tip and red feet (can't see legs).
   The White-backed Mousebird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 505.

   The female Greater Crested Glebe is probably sitting on eggs, while the male is nearby.

   We can ID this duck as a White-backed Duck by its large head, humped back, sitting low in the water, white spot at base of bill and barred buff and dark brown plumage.    The White-backed Duck is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 504.



GREAT WHITE PELICAN IN FLIGHT, MILNERTON, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

We can ID this Pelican as a Great White Pelican by its white color, black flight feathers contrasting with white coverts in flight and yellow bill pouch sagging in the middle (you can see sag in second photo).
   The Greater White Pelican is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 503.
