LEVAILLANT'S CISTICOLA, STRANDFONTEIN SEWER WORKS, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird  as Levaillant's Cisticola by its rufous tail, heavily black streaked back and rufous wings and cap.

   Levaillant's Cisticola is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 497.

   The ducks on the left and upper right with the pinkish bills are Cape Teals.  The duck in the upper middle of the photo with a yellow eye is Cape Shoveler.  The other two ducks we can't ID.

   We can ID the Cape Teal by its red eye, pinkish bill with a black base and dark tip, overall pale head and mottled dark brown upperparts.

   The Cape Teal is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 496.

MALE SOUTHERN POUCHARD, STRANDFONTEIN SEWER WORKS, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this duck as a male Southern Pouchard by its bright red eyes (females do not have red eyes), uniform dark brown head and black tip on bill.

   The Southern Pouchard is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 495.
