JUVENILE BATELEUR IN FLIGHT, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

    We can ID this raptor as a juvenile Bateleur by short tail, dark brown underwing pattern and grayish face.
   The Bateleur is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 429.



ELEPHANTS EATING SALT, IVORY LODGE, ZIMBABWE

   The lodge spreads salt just outside the blind overlooking the watering hole.  The salt is important for the Elephant's diet.  When they eat the salt, they get very close to you in the blind.

VERREAUX'S (GIANT) EAGLE-OWL, IMBABALA PRIVATE CONCESSION, ZIMBABWE

   This photo was taken at night during a night safari.  We can ID this owl as Verreaux's Eagle-Owl or Giant Eagle-Owl by its grey plumage and dark eyes with pinkish eyelids, which is diagnostic.
   Verreaux's Eagle-Owl is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 428.
