WHITE-CROWNED LAPWING, ZAMBEZI RIVER, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA

   We can ID this bird as a White-crowned Lapwing by its its distinctive pendulous yellow wattles and wide white stripe running from forehead to nape.
   The White-crowned Lapwing is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 360.

   We can ID this bird as an African Finfoot by its grebe-like appearance, spotted back and orange-red bill.

STRIATED HERON, ZAMBEZI RIVER, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA

   We can ID this heron as a Striated Heron by its blue-gray back and wings; paler blue-gray underparts; short, pale yellow legs and a dark line that extends from bill to under the eye.
