   We were very close to this wood stork.

DOWNY WOODPECKER, EAGLE LAKES COMMUNITY PARK, NAPLES, FL

   We identified this woodpecker as Downy Woodpecker, rather than the similar Hairy Woodpecker by its relatively short bill and by the tuft of nasal bristles.

MOTTLED DUCK, VERONAWALK, NAPLES, FL

   We can identify this duck as a Mottled Duck by the black spot on the gape (base of the bill).  Also notice the blue speculum with black border.

GREEN-WINGED TEAL, GARGIULO TOMATO FIELD, NAPLES, FL

      We can identify these ducks as male Green-winged Teals in breeding plumage as follows:

• Chestnut head and green eye patch
• Grey flanks
• White verticsl bar on side of breasts
