SAVANNAH SPARROW, DEVIL'S GARDEN BIRD PARK, CLEWISTON, FL
We can ID this sparrow as a Savannah Sparrow as follows:
- Whitish stripe in middle of crown
- Pinkish bill
- Fine streaks on breast and white belly
The Savannah Sparrow is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 246.
CATTLE EGRETS & CATTLE, DEVIL'S GARDEN BIRD PARK, CLEWISTON, FL
In addition to being a bird park, Devil's Garden is also a working ranch, with around 1,000 head of cattle. As you can see in the photos, their are numerous Cattle Egrets who follow the livestock to capture insects stirred up by their movrment. This is where their name comes from. In the first photo you can even see a Cattle Egret atop of a cow.
