COMMON PAURAQUE AT NIGHT, HOTEL PUNTA LEONA, PUNTA LEONA, COSTA RICA

   We accidently came across these birds sleeping on a trail we were walking at night.  They were sleeping, but eventually woke up and flew away.  Because it was night and we used a flashlight, the colors are somewhat off.
   The Common Paraque is a new species to our Life List which now stands at 233.

   This photo was taken at night with a flashlight.  The Blue-crowned Motmot is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 223.

COMMON BLACK HAWK, TARCOLES RIVER, TARCOLES, COSTA RICA

   The first photo is of an adult Common Black Hawk and the second of a juvenile.  The Mangrove Black Hawk, traditionally considered a distinct species, is now generally considered a subspecies.
   The Common Black Hawk is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 222.
