RIDING THE TARCOLES RIVER, TARCOLES, COSTA RICA

   When we went on a boat trip on the Tarcoles River on Wednesday, Oct. 7, about 20 monutes into the trip it started to rain and then pour with thunder and lightning, so the trip was cut short.  We were able to continue the boat trip the next day and the weather was beautiful.

AT CARARA NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA

   The large tree in the last three photos is the Kapok tree.  It is the giant of the rainforest, towering over all other vegetation  It can grow up to 200 ft. and 9-10 ft. in diameter.  It can grow up to 13 ft. per year.
