FEEDING THE MACAWS & JUVENILE MACAW, ALVARO OTOYA FARM, RIO CUARTO, GRECIA, ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA

   The Macaws at the Oyoya farm are not afraid of humans.  They will take food from
 your hand and from your mouth.  We feed them peanuts and pineapple.  In the photos you can see us feeding them.  The last two photos are of a juvenile hybrid Macaw that is about 3 months old.










GREAT GREEN MACAW, ALVARO ÒTOYA FARM, RIO CUARTO, GRECIA, ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA

   The Great Green Macaw is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 214.



SCARLET MACAW, ALVARO FARM, RIO CUARTO, GRECIA, ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA

   The Scarlet Macaws were photographed at a farm run by Alvaro Otoya.  He is a former Macaw poacher turned farmer and conservationist,  Over 30 scarlet, great green and hybrid macaws nest on the farm.  They are not caged and are free to roam.
   The Scarlet Macaw is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 213.

SUNBITTERN, SELVA VERDE LODGE, CHILAMATE, SARAPIQUI, COSTA RICA

   The Sunbittern is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 212.



GOLDEN ORB WEAVER SPIDER, SELVA VERDE LODGE, CHILAMATE, SARAPIQUI, COSTA RICA

   This is a large spider, approximately 3" long.  It looks like it has caught a caterpillar in its web.


PEREGRINE FALCON, FROM ROAD IN SARAPIQUI, COSTA RICA

   The Peregrine Falcon is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 211.
