   We can tell this is male American Black Duck and not a female Mallard or Malard hybrid as follows:

• Does not have the white outer tail feathers or curled black tail feathers of a Mallard or Mallard hybrid.
• Bright yellow bill with none of the dark splotches that are on the bill of the female Mallard.
