CANADA JAY, ALGONQUIN PROVINCIAL PARK - SPRUCE BOG BOARDWALK, NIPISSING COUNTY, ONTARIO, 1/24/2026 - NEW SPECIES TO LIFE LIST

   We can ID this bird as a Canada Jay as follows:
  • Identified as a Canada Jay by Merlin bird photo ID app.  See 2nd photo for colors.
  • Gray overall with various shades of gray, with some of the dark grays appearing black depending on the light.
  • Forehead, cheeks and throat are light gray to whitish-gray.
  • Very dark gray or black cap on head and nape, but light gray ring at bottom of nape.
  • Upper parts are very dark gray or blackish looking.
  • Medium gray underparts that we can see.
  • Dark and long tail.
   The Canada Jay is a new species to our ebird Photographic Life List.
