NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL, ETOBICOKE,TORONTO,ON, 5/4/2019

         Thanks to Peter Sproule for leading us to the location of the owl.  We can ID this owl as a      Northern Saw-whet Owl as follows:
  • Its very small size.  It looked about the size of an American Robin, if not slightly smaller.  They are one of the smallest owl species in North America.
  • Round, oversize head and pale face with brown streaks.
  • Yellow eyes with white V between them.
  • Does not have ear tufts.
  • Pale underparts with brown streaks
  • Brown crown with white-spots.

    The Northern Saw-whet Owl is a new species to our Photographic Life List,which now stands at 850.
