DOUBLE-STRIPED THICK-KNEE, ROUTE 922, BEGACES TO PALO VERDE NATIONAL PARK,GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA, 6/13/18

   We can ID this bird as a Double-striped Thick-Knee by the habitat where it was sighted (see below) and by its  large yellow eyes (see first photo); head with a broad white supercillary bordered above by a black stripe; short, stout bill: pale brown neck and breast and white belly.
    The Double-striped Thick-knee is a largely nocturnal and crepuscular (active during dawn and dusk) bird of the arid grassland, savanna and other dry, open habitats.  This Thick-knee eats large insects and other small vertebrate and invertebrate prey.
   The Double-striped Thick-knee is a new species to our Photographic Life List,which now stands at 787.
