MALE WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH, PRESQU'ILE PROVINCIAL PARK, BRIGHTON, ON

     We can ID this bird as a male White-breasted Nuthatch as follows:
  • Color pattern: very dark crown and nape that contrasts with blue-gray back. Face and underparts are white.  
  • Dark eyes stand out against unmarked white face.
  • Very short tail.
  • Chestnut color on lower belly and tail.
  • Long narrowbill.  This can be seen in second photo.
