MALLARD x AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS (HYBRIDS), ALGONQUIN PROVINCIAL PARK - MIZZY LAKE TRAIL (OLD RAILWAY BED), NIPISSING, ONTARIO, 9/6/2025

We can tell these ducks are Mallard x American Black Duck hybrids by their speculums (the bright blue patch on their wings).  Their speculums are a combination of Mallard and American Black Duck speculums, i.e.,  the pure black outer bands of the American Black Duck and the combination black and white outer bands of the Mallard.
