FEMALE PILEATED WOODPECKER WITH TWIG TWISTED AROUND ITS BILL, NAPLES BOTANICAL GARDEN, NAPLES, FLORIDA, 2/18/2024
If you look at this Pileated Woodpecker's bill you can see that part of its upper mandible has what looks like a twig twisted around it. As we looked at the woodpecker it seemed to be trying to get the twig off, but wasn't successful while we were looking at it.
