We can ID this hummingbird as a male Bahama Woodstar as follows:
- Black, thin slightly down curved bill.
- Bright purple to pink, iridescent gorget (throat feathers). The gorget can also look partially or all black in low light, as in the second and third photos.
- White breast and cinnamon belly.
- Black and cinnamon tail.
- Dark feet.
The Bahama Woodstar is endemic to the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos from Grand Bahama to Grand Turk. It sometimes wanders into the U.S., particularly Florida.
