FEMALE RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER & NORTHERN FLICKERS, NAPLES BOTANICAL GARDEN, NAPLES, FLORIDA, 1/9/2024
In the first two photos a female Red-bellied Woodpecker is on the front-side of the branch and a female Red-shafted Northern Flicker is behind it. The third photo shows a male (on left) and the female (on right) Red-shafted Northern Flicker.
WESTERN KINGBIRD, EAGLE LAKES COMMUNITY PARK, NAPLES, FLORIDA, 1/8/2024 - NEW LIFE SPECIES
We can ID this tyrant flycatcher as a Western Kingbird as follows:
- Merlin identified both photos as a Western Kingbird
- Pale gray head with dark line through eyes
- Whitish throat
- Bright yellow belly
- You can just make out some of the gray on its chest
- Dark wings and olive back
- Dark tail with white outer tail feathers
