RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, CYPRESS PROVINCIAL PARK, WEST VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, 6/11/2022 - PHOTOGRAPHIC LIFE LIST SPECIES # 1,028

   We can ID this woodpecker as a Red-breasted Sapsucker as follows:
  • Red head (we can't see its breasts)
  • Bold white slash on dark shoulder
  • Limited white mottling on black back with most mottling in two rows
  • What we can see of the underparts is gray with whitish or light gray mottling
   The Red-breasted Sapsucker is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,028.
