JUVENILE WOOD DUCKS BEGINNING TO MOLT INTO ADULT MALE WOOD DUCKS,
These Wood Ducks still have most of the plumage of juveniles, but you can see some of the plumage of adult male Wood Ducks starting to form. For example, some of the white plumage on the face and neck is starting to form. Also, in some of the photos you can see the greenish crown starting to form. If you look closely at the last photo you can see some red starting to form in the eye (adult male Wood Ducks have red eyes).
In general Wood Ducks have their full adult breeding plumage by September.
