MALE WHITE-RUMPED SHAMA, HONOLULU BOTANICAL GARDENS, HONOLULU, HAWAII

   We can ID this bird as a male White-ramped Shama by its glossy dark blue back, head, nape and upper breast; black wings; very long tail and white eyering. 

   The White-rumped Shama is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 770.

BRISTLE-THIGHED CURLEW, JAMES CAMPBELL NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, KAHUKU, OAHU, HAWAII

  Because of the distance and lighting we could not discern colors and some features of the bird very well in the photo.  However,  we can still ID this shorebird as a Bristle-thighed Curlew by its large size and shape, long downcurved bill, dark eye-line, white eyebrow and location.  The curlew most similar to the Bristle-thighed Curlew is the Whimbrel, which is a rare visitor to Hawaii.

   The Bristle-thighed Curlew is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 769.

KAHUKU WIND FARM, KAHUKU, OAHU, HAWAII

   The Kahuku Wind Farm has a nameplate generating capacity of 30 megawatts.   It consists of 12 wind turbines.

OLD JAPANESE GRAVEYARD, KAHUKU, OAHU, HAWAII

   This old Japanese Cemetary is located at the Northwest end of the Kahuku Golf Course.  The earliest date of passing away we could find was in 1913, so the cemetary is more than 100 years old.
