JUVENILE LITTLE BLUE HERON, CARONI NATIONAL PARK, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO


RED-CAPPED CARDINAL, CARONI NATIONAL PARK, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

   We can ID this bird as a Red-capped Cardinal by its scarlet crown and throat, broad black patch from lores to ear curving downward, white sides of neck and rest of underparts, black upperparts, black upper mandible and lower mandible whitish at base.
   The Red-capped Cardinal isa new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 574.

COPPER-RUMPED HUMMINGBIRD, ASA WRIGHT NATURE CENTRE, ARIMA, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

   We can ID this hummingbird as a Copper-rumped Hummingbird by its generally bronze green upperparts with pronounced coppery bronze on rump and white thighs.
   The Copper-rumped Hummingbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 573.


MALE BLACK-THROATED MANGO, ASA WRIGHT NATURE CENTRE, ARIMA, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

    We can ID this hummingbird as a male Black-throated Hummingbird by its iridescent green upperparts and black throat bordered by iridescent blue.
   The Black-throated Hummingbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 572.




MALE RUBY-TOPAZ HUMMINGBIRD, ASA WRIGHT NATURE CENTRE, ARIMA, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

    Even though the lighting wasn't very good and colors didn't come out very well, we can ID this hummingbird as a male Ruby-topaz Hummingbird by its iridescent ruby red nape, short straight bill, iridescent green throat (throat is generally iridescent gold, but can be iridescent green) and chestnut tail with black tip.
   The Ruby-topaz Hummingbird is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 571.
