Even though we only photographed the upper part of the bird and it is out-of-focus, we can ID this bird as a male Blue Dacnis by its turquoise blue head with black forehead and throat, black wings and relatively short bill compared to other honeycreepers.
The Blue Dacnis is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 570.
FEMALE GOLDEN-OLIVE WOODPECKER, ASA WRIGHT NATURE CENTRE, ARIMA, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
The second photo is out-of-focus, but we can still see colors. We can ID this woodpecker as a female Golden-olive Woodpecker by its golden olive upperparts, barred black and yellow underparts, grayish blue forecrown and red hind crown (but no red moustachial streak as in male).
The Golden-olive Woodpecker is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 569.
