CATTLE EGRET FOLLOWING A WARTHOG, ZAMBEZI RIVER, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA
Cattle Egrets follow cattle, other large mammals (such as Warthogs) and machines and eat the invertebrates stirred up from the ground. They will also fly toward smoke from long distances to catch insects fleeing a fire.
COMMON SANDPIPER, ZAMBEZI RIVER, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA
We can ID this sandpiper as a Common Sandpiper by its drab brown color above, white underparts, black bill, black legs and white on the breast curving up and over the shoulder.
The Common Sandpiper is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 363.
