SUNSET, DAVID LIVINGSTONE SAFARI LODGE, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA, 11/4/16








RED-WINGED STARLING, VICTORIA FALLS, MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA

   We can ID this bird as a Red-winged Starling by the rufus of its primaries showing and its long tail.
   The Red-winged Starling is a new species to our Photogrsphic Life List, which now stands at 348.

VICTORIA FALLS AND ZAMBEZI RIVER FROM ZAMBIA SIDE, MOSI-OA-TUNYA NATIONAL PARK, LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA

   Victoria Falls is known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya - "The Smoke Which Thunders".  This time of year, at the end of the dry season, much of the canyons of the falls are dry.  At the height of the wet season they would be completely submerged by water flowing over them.  Even at this time of year Victoria Falls is a beautiful and majestic sight.  The bridge shown in one of the photos is over the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe.























LITTLE GREBE, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this grebe as a a Little Grebe by its small size, short stubby bill, chestnut on side of head and pale spot at base of bill.
   The Little Grebe is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 347.

FEMALE AFRICAN STONECHAT, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a female African Stonechat by its small size, brown above and on head, chestnut-buff below, white rump and white wing patches.
