GREAT CRESTED GREBE, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH, AFRICA

   Even though these photos were taken at a great distance we can ID this grebe as a Grest Crested Grebe by its crest, long neck and white patch under eye.
   The Great Crested Grebe is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 328.


BLACK-WINGED STILT, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a Black--winged Stilt by its black and white plumage, very long pink legs and long, thin and pointed black bill,
   The Black-winged Stilt is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 327.


DARK-CAPPED ((LACK-EYED) BULBUL, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a Dark-capped Bulbul bit its grayish-brown color, black head, black eyes and slightly downturned bill.
   The Dark--apped Bulbul is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 326.

MALE AFRICAN STONECHAT, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTURY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a male African Stonechat by its black head, chestnut breast and flanks and white neck patch.
   The African Stonechat is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 325.


MALE SOUTHERN MASKED WEAVER, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTUARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a male Southern Masked Weaver by its black mask, red eyes, yellow underparts and  mostly greenish back.
   The Southern Masked Weaver is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 324.




MALE SOUTHERN RED BISHOP, MARIEVALE BIRD SANCTARY, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this bird as a male Southern Red Bisho by its bright red and black plumage.
   The Southern Red Bishop is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 323.



RED-EYED DOVE, COURTYARD HOTEL, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this dove as a Red-eyed Dove by its dull reddish eye, dull reddish ring around eye, buffy colored tip of tail and and black patch on neck.
   The Red-eyed Dove is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 322.
