BARN SWALLOW, PRINCE EDWARD POINT NATIONAL WILDLIFE AREA, MILFORD, ON
We can ID this swallow as a Barn Swallow by the dark rufous throat, the lighter fufous underparts and blue-black above.
MALE BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, PRINCE EDWARD POINT NATIONAL WILDLIFE AREA, MILFORD, ON
We can ID this warbler as a male Blackburnian Warbler as follows:
- Orange throat and upper breast.
- White wing panel.
- Sides of neck, eyestripe and line on forecrown are yellow-orange.
- Eye-arc under eye is yellow-orange.
The Blackburnian Warbler is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 298.
RED-EYED VIREO, PRINCE EDWARD POINT NATIONAL WILDLIFE AREA, MILFORD, ON
We can ID this bird as an adult Redeyed Vireo as follows:
- Red-eye.
- Head pattern: gray crown and white eyebrow stripe bordered above and below by blackish lines.
- Bill has a small but noticeable hook at the tip of the upper mandible.
- Greenish above and whitish below (with some yellow wash).
The Red-eyed Vireo is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 297.
