Periodically the bird bander will bring a bird out of the Bird Observatory to show to the birders present. This is a great opportunity to see the bird real close.

The birds that will be banded are caught in mist nets. They are collected in small bags and brought to the Bird Observatory. Here they are banded, examined, measured (2nd and 3rd photos), weighed (scale with bird in it is shown in 4th photo), approximate age estimated, etc. and then released.
