RED-NECKED GREBES & FLOATING NEST, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   The Red-necked Grebe was actually in a nest that was on small raft that was floating in the water.  The grebe's mate was hanging out nearby.

   The bird in the background is a breeding adult Ring-billed Gull; it has the red orbital ring of the breeding adult.  The gull in the foreground is a juvenile Ring-billed Gull.

   You can see the overall gray color and black cap of a Gray Catbird.

RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   The Red-winged Blackbird in the first two photos is a male and in the third photo a female.





A VERY MAD GULL, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   The gull on the right seems to be very mad at the gull in the left, who swooped down to steal his fish.



MALE AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, COLONEL SAMUEL SMITH PARK, TORONTO, ON

   This male American Goldfinch is unmistakable with its bright yellow back, face and underparts, its orange bill and black forehead.
