   We can tell this is a male Pileated Woodpecker by red on the cheek; the female does not have this.

LEAST SANDPIPERS, EAGLE LAKES COMMUNITY PARK, NAPLES, FL

   We can ID these sandpipers as Least Sandpipers as follows:
  • Small sandpiper or "peep" with yellowish legs.  The Least Sandpiper is the only small sandpiper with yellowish legs.
  • Overall brownish above and white below.
  • Bill black, finely pointed and drooping slightly.
  • Breast streaked with light brown.
  • Back and wing feathers have dark centers and lighter edges, creating a "scaled"appearance.
