WHITE-EYED VIREO, KIRBY STORTER ROADSIDE PARK, BIG CYPRESS NATIONAL PRESERVE, COLLIER COUNTY, FL

   We can ID this bird as a White-eyed Vireo as follows:
  • Grayish head and white throat.
  • Two wingbars.
  • White iris with bright yellow "spectacle".  In the photo because of the angle, distance and lighting you can make out only part of the white iris and part of the yellow "spectacle".
  • Yellow flanks.
   The White-eyed Vireo is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 272.
