   These are beautiful ducks and it was wonderful to see so many.




PURPLE GALLINULE, STA-5, CLEWISTON, FL

   In the second photo you can just make out the blue frontal shield of the Purple Gallinule.  Also the greenish back is that of a Purple Gallinule.




GRAY KINGBIRD, STA-5, CLEWISTON, FL

   Even though the photos aren't great we can ID this bird as a Gray Kingbird as follows:
  • Very large bill (see 2nd photo).
  • Gray crown.
  • Dark mask.
  • Gray above and white below.
  • Long tail with a white tip (you can see the white tip in the 1st photo).
   The Gray Kingbird is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 270.
