NONBREEDING SANDWICH TERN, GOODLAND, MARCO ISLAND, FL
We identified this tern as a Sandwich Tern as follows:
- Small size: smaller than Royal Tern
- Long black bill with small pale tip
- Black legs
The Sandwich Tern is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 238.

FIDDLER CRABS, TIGERTAIL BEACH, MARCO ISLAND, FL
The Fiddler Crabs live in the burrow holes in the sand shown in the third photo. As I walked towards them, the crabs scurried to get into their holes.
NONBREEDING PIPING PLOVER, TIGERTAIL BEACH, MARCO ISLAND, FL
We identified this shorebird as a Piping Plover as follows:
- Small, stocky frame
- Large dark eye on pale face
- Orange legs
The Piping Plover is a new species to our Life List, which now stands at 237.
