KILDEER, EVERETT GRAVEL PIT, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO, ON

   The Everett Gravel Pit is located on Sideroad 5 between Concession Roads 3 and 4 in the township of Adjala-Tosorontio, ON.  We traveled to the gravel pit with a group from the Ontario Field Ornithologists.  We also visited the Palgrave Conservation Area and sod farms in Tottenham.

   While birding this morning we came across these horses.

AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, DUFFY'S LANE, PALGRAVE CONSERVATION AREA, CALEDON, ON

CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, DUFFY'S LANE, PALGRAVE CONSERVATION AREA, CALEDON, ON

   This Chestnut-sided Warbler is a juvenile in fall plumage.  The juvenile warbler does not have the chestnut flanks of the adult.  We identified this as a juvenile Chestnut-sided warbler as follows:

• Prominent white eye-ring
• Raised tail
• Greenish above and pale gray below

   The Chestnut-sided warbler is a new species for our Life List, which now stands at 146.
