   We can ID this pigeon as a White-crowned Pigeon as follows:
  • Dark gray with contrasting white cap
  • White iris
  • Scalloping on nape
  • Short, reddish bill with pale tip
  • Pink legs
   The White-crowned Pigeon is a resident of the islands and coastlines in the Caribbean, with its northern limit of range reaching southern Florida.  It feeds almost entirely on fruits of hardwood trees.

   The White-crowned Pigeon is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 1,001.
