NONBREEDING AUSTRALASIAN GREBE, NYLETA WETLANDS, HASTIES SWAMP NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA


HARDHEAD, NYLETA WETLANDS, HASTIES SWAMP NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this duck as a Hardhead by its chocolate brown head, distinct white eye,  rufous sides and blue and white bill.
   The Hardhead is a new species toour Photographic Life List, which now stands at 700.



PINK-EARED DUCKS, NYLETA WETLANDS, HASTIES SWAMP NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this duck as a Pink-eared Duck by its large spatulate bill, brown back, black and white barred  sides, black eye patch extending to the nape on an otherwise white face and pink spot in the corner formed by the black head pattern.
   The Pink-eared Duck is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 699.

EASTERN CATTLE EGRET, NYLETA WETLANDS, HASTIES SWAMP NATIONAL PARK, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA, 10/19/2017 (UPDATED 11/1/2023)

   The Cattle Egret has been split into two species: the Western Cattle Egret and Eastern Cattle Egret. This cattle egret is an Eastern Cattle Egret. The split of the Cattle Egret into two species increases our ebird Life List to 1,082.
