BLACK KITE IN FLIGHT, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this raptor as a Black Kite by its forked tail, angled wings, yellow legs, generally dark plumage and dark eye patch. 
   The Black Kite is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 655.




WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE IN FLIGHT, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this raptor as a Wedge-tailed Eagle by its wedge shaped tail, long wingspan compared to its size and underwing pattern. 
   The Wedge-tailed Eagle is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 654.



BLACK-SHOULDERED KITE ON SNAG & TAKING OFF, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this raptor as a Black-shouldered Kite by its pale grey upperparts, black shoulders, white head, black face patch  white underparts and yellow feet. 
   The Black-shouldered Kite is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 653.

AUSTRALASIAN PIPIT, LARA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, 10/16/2017

   We can ID this bird as a Australasian Pipit by its pale brown upperparts with streaks, whitish underparts with streaks on breast,  pale stripe over the eye and long pinkish legs.
   The Australasian Pipit is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 652.



CAPE BARREN GOOSE, LARA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this goose as a Cape Barren Goose by its grey plumage, short black bill and yellow-green cere. 
   The Cape Barren Goose is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 651.



MASKED LAPWING OR SPUR-WINGED PLOVER , LARA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this bird as the eastern form of the Masked Lapwing (called the Spur-winged Plover in New Zealand) by its black crown, white neck and throat with black neck stripe, brown upperparts and yellow wattles  (you can just make this out in photo).
   The Masked Lapwing is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 650.
