MASKED LAPWING OR SPUR-WINGED PLOVER , LARA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this bird as the eastern form of the Masked Lapwing (called the Spur-winged Plover in New Zealand) by its black crown, white neck and throat with black neck stripe, brown upperparts and yellow wattles  (you can just make this out in photo).
   The Masked Lapwing is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 650.

We can ID this bird as an Emu by its very large size, generally brown color and short bill. 
   The Emu is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 649.





CRESTED PIGEON ON WIRE, LARA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA



   We can ID this pigeon as a Crested Pigeon by its black spike crest on top of the head, generally greyish color, black stripes on wings and orange eyes.
   The Crested Pigeon is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 648.

FOREST RAVEN, COALMINE ROAD, ANGLESEA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

    We can ID this bird as a Forest Raven by its large size, all black plumage, wedge-shaped tail and it's loud distinctive call, which sounds like a quaking duck.
   The Forest Raven is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 647.





GREAT CORMORANT, POINT ROADKNIGHT BACK BEACH, ANGLESEA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this cormorant as a Great Cormorant (also called Great Black Cormorant) by its large size, all black color, yellowish face and yellowish throat patch. 
   The Great Cormorant is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 646. 





SOOTY OYSTERCATCHER., POINT ROADKNIGHT BACK BEACH, ANGLESEA, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

   We can ID this bird as a Sooty Oystercatcher by its all black plumage, pink-red legs and orange-red bill and eyes. 
   The Sooty Oystercatcher is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 645.
