KEA, ARTHUR'S PASS STORE PARKING LOT, CANTERBURY REGION, SOUTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND, 11/4/2017

   We can ID this parrot as a Kea by its large size; mostly olive-green plumage; grey bill having a long, downcurved  upper bill; grey  eye-ring and dull-blue feathers on its outer wing.
   The Kea is the only truly alpine parrot in the world and is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand. 
   The Kea is a new species to our Photographic Life List, which now stands at 751.
