MALE CAPE SPURFOWL, HAROLD PORTER GARDEN, BETTY'S BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA

   We can ID this spurfowl as a male Cape Spurfowl by the spur on its legs (females don't have spur), dark eyes, dull red bill with a dark top to the upper mandible, orange-red legs and plumage that is finely vermiculated with whitish stripes.
   The Cape Spurfowl is a new species to our Photographic Life List, whichnow stands at 492.
